Xabi Alonso returned to his hometown of Albacete on Sunday to begin his preparations for the coming season with his new club FC Barcelona. Alonso, who’s been training with Barcelona in Catalonia for three weeks to adjust to his new surroundings and poses for the cameras in his hometown, was welcomed by a crowd of fans who made the trip north from Albacete. Among the new arrivals in Barcelona are Argentinian Rodrigo Salgado and Brazilian goalkeeper Yuri Berchiche. Alonso’s first game with the club is likely to be against Manchester United on September 8.
The 32-year-old midfielder left Real Madrid last summer after spending a decade at the Santiago Bernabeu. Alonso also expressed his affection for Albacete earlier this year by saying that: “Albacete made me who I am and I always felt at home,” (…)
